Answer B. The image shown above is indicative of adenoid hypertrophy. Patients with this condition would present with rhinolalia clausa. Adenoid hypertrophy occurs in response to allergens or infections. It is more common in children. Affected children typically present with symptoms of nasal obstruction, sinusitis, and rhinolalia clausa (loss of nasal tone of voice). They may also experience aprosexia (inability to concentrate) leading to declining academic performance. These children have characteristic adenoid facies marked by a dull expression, open mouth, hitched-up upper lip, pinched-in nose, high arched palate, and crowded upper teeth. Other options: • Rhinolalia aperta is hypernasality seen in Velopharyngeal . insufficiency etc. • Muffled and thick speech, often called "hot potato voice" is seen in peritonsillar abscess or quinsy. • Staccato voice is broken speech and is seen in multiple sclerosis.
